North Essex County Bowls Federation is a group of 11 bowls club covering an area encompassing North-West Essex, South-West Suffolk, and South-East Cambridgeshire.
We are affiliated to the English Bowling Federation and the English Women’s Bowling Federation.
Federation bowls is part of the bowls family, but has some unique variations to the rules of play that are encountered in the EBA format of bowls . These were designed to make the game quicker and shorter. It is played in 13 counties, mainly down the eastern side of England.
The majority of our activity is centered on the Outdoor Season, from April to September.
We run two county teams, 1 each for Men and Ladies, competing in the National inter-county competitions.
At county level we run an inter-club league, a Club Championship knock out competition, and a host of individual competitions. So there is quite a lot going on.
We have three indoor clubs in our area; Haverhill, Sudbury, and Turpin’s (Saffron Walden).
For our members who play indoors during the winter we run a series of individual county competitions.
